In these days leading up to Thanksgiving, we wanted to take a moment and have some of Target Tours’ family reflect on things they are thankful for…

Merv McAdam – Tour Director

Thanksgiving can have so many meanings and even though this traditional day sprung from the Fall Harvest and the blessings that come from it, I want to say how thankful I am for having had the opportunity to travel to so many places.

For those who know me, you will know that I have been to NYC quite a number of times and have loved every minute. However, the tour I did where Thanksgiving has meaning all year round was the Canadian Battlefields tour to France, Belgium, and the Netherlands (Holland). The First and Second World Wars are still as fresh in the memory of Europeans as though it were yesterday. Myself and my guests on that tour were truly moved by the way the memory is kept alive and thankful for the past generations who fought for our freedom.

John Dunphy – Co-owner

When we started Target Tours over 12 years ago, our tag line was Creating Memories, One Journey at a Time. We hoped that the tours we planned were more than just the destination, but also about the journey getting to where you want to go. It was about the interaction with the other passengers, the Tour Director, the Driver and the people you met along the way at hotels and rest stops. Our job was to create an environment to make the journey the highlight of the tour.

The old adage that “you have to give to receive” is ringing true. Although we were doing all the planning to make sure you had the time of your life, we also received something back in return. Many friendships were formed by all the Tour Directors and staff along the way. It became like Old Home Week when we would all get together to drive or fly off to new adventures with laugher and fun.
