Target Tours Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Summary: Target Tours announces its 10th anniversary as a full-service group tour operator based on Prince Edward Island.

(STRATFORD, PE) January 8, 2019 – From a corner of their basement in Morell, PE John and Lynn Dunphy set their sights on the world. The pair co-founded Target Tours in 2009 by offering bus tours to destinations such as New York City and NASCAR races. Much has changed since their start in their home office. The company now has an office in Stratford, PE and has over 26 team members that include office staff and guide staff who are located all over the Maritimes. The company now offers group fly tours to destinations in Europe, the United Kingdom, and beyond in addition to their traditional motor coach tours in North America. Apart from Target Tours’ growth in destinations, it has also expanded through acquisition and through the development of an additional brand, Target Tours Atlantic. Target Tours Atlantic welcomes groups and individual travelers to Atlantic Canada by providing tour services in all four provinces.

“Looking back on ten years it is hard to believe all that we’ve accomplished,” said Mr. Dunphy. “Travel is a dynamic industry where you have to be prepared to adjust to economic or global changes as well as tastes and trends. We’ve been able to navigate that to get us where we are today.”

To mark their decade in the industry, Target Tours held a private event for their past passengers from Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick at the Delta Prince Edward in September 2018. With more than 325 guests in attendance it was an excellent way to say thank you to the clients and suppliers who supported their growth and celebrate their achievements to date.

In 2019, Target Tours plans to continue the celebration with events to introduce interested travellers to the products they offer and more opportunities to learn about group travel.

Co-founder Lynn Dunphy adds “It has been an absolute privilege to take our guests to destinations all over the world. We don’t take it for granted that they choose us. We cannot wait for the new adventures, friends, and destinations we will discover together in the years to come.”

Our tour in New York was amazing with our guide Jimmy who was so knowledgeable about the history of the city. The weather was beautiful as we walked and took in all the sites. Sooo much to see and you leave with the impression that you will return.

Travelling to New York City with Target Tours has been a dream come true for me. It was so relaxing to not worry about directions, traffic and being tired. The driver was so capable of handling all of the environments we drove in. There was also plenty of quick stops for snacks and bathroom breaks. The restaurants we stopped at for meals were great home cooked food with quick service. The travelling part of the trip, there & back, was nothing but relaxing. Merv, our tour director, gave us loads of advice on how to navigate the streets and vendors of NYC. We used many of his great tips on our adventures. We were confident enough to use the subway from his advice and it went great. The shows included in the trip were top notch and were among the highlights of the whole weekend. There was an excellent amount of free time every day for us to explore the city on our own. The 4 hour guided tour with Jimmy was one of the best parts of the entire trip! Merv gave great advice on where to eat in NYC. The entire vacation was dreamy and I can't wait to do it again someday!
