Wildlife and Nature in Tortuguero

After the farm visits, we headed to Tortuguero National Park, a must-see destination.

Our accommodations were so unique – we stayed in a gazebo-style cabin, complete with curtains for privacy. Waking up to the sounds of howler monkeys made it feel like we were living in the heart of the jungle.

Throughout our stay, we encountered a wide variety of wildlife. Along with the howler monkeys, we spotted sloths, snakes (yes, yuck!), iguanas, crocodiles, and turtles. The birdlife was astounding, with countless species filling the air. Experiencing this level of biodiversity was truly one of the highlights of the tour.

Next, we made our way to the Arenal Volcano, passing Arenal Lake by boat before continuing by motor coach.

The winding roads were a bit bumpy, but the views of the volcano and surrounding landscapes more than made up for the small inconvenience.

The Arenal Volcano & Hot Springs

At Arenal, we hiked up to a couple of viewing platforms to get a closer look at this stunning, dormant volcano. Though it last erupted in 1968, it has been in a resting phase since 2010, making it safe to visit. The volcanic activity beneath the surface also feeds the region’s famous hot springs, and we had the chance to relax and soak in the warm, mineral-rich waters – the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploration.

Relaxing at Puntarenas

Our final stop was the Puntarenas area, where we stayed at an all-inclusive resort. After such an action-packed journey, it was wonderful to take a couple of days to slow down and relax. The resort provided a perfect setting for the group to enjoy a pool day, sip drinks, and meet for dinner. It was a great way to end the tour on a leisurely note.

An Unforgettable Immersive Experience

This Costa Rica Farm Tour was a true model of an immersive experience. From learning about local farming techniques to connecting with the people and tasting the rich flavors of the region, we truly felt like we discovered the heart of Costa Rica. It’s not often that you get such an intimate look into the country’s culture and agriculture, and we’re already looking forward to returning.

If you’re looking to experience Costa Rica in a unique and meaningful way, this tour is the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the country’s beauty, biodiversity, and local traditions.

We can’t wait to visit again and continue exploring this amazing destination.
