FAQ Guided Vacations

For Target Tours, a guided vacation is a pre-packaged vacation including your transportation, accommodations, meals and activities. We also send a Tour Director with the group to coordinate with suppliers and enhance your experience. These vacations can be booked by single travelers, couples, groups of 3 or more and are intended to offer a safe environment for people to share their travel experience.

In addition to providing a safe environment, guided vacations offer a worry-free travel experience, an opportunity to make lasting connections with fellow travelers and save some money as well!

Yes! Our Target Tours SOLO program has a great history of pairing people of the same gender to share accommodations and split travel costs. If you want more information and to learn how to join click HERE.

You can book a couple of ways – and they’re really easy!

If you prefer speaking to a person, you can our office number at 1-877-214-5367 and talk to one of our team members! Our office hours are Monday to Thursday, 8:30am to 4:30pm and Friday 8:30am to 4pm.

If you’re tech-savvy, you can book online with our user-friendly online booking portal! Powered by WeTravel, you can book and pay your deposit for your vacation without even leaving the vacation page. You can also create your own account to manage your booking, make payments and fill out our forms!

For all tours outside of Canada, you will require a valid passport. Generally, for international travel (outside North America/Caribbean) you will require a passport that will be valid 6 months past the date of departure of your tour. Select destinations may require visas or special entry requirements. Should your tour have such a special entry requirement Target Tours will alert you to this during the booking process and assist in preparing those documents.

It is your responsibility to obtain a valid passport and to bring it with you on your tour and to protect it during travel. Should you neglect to bring your passport on a tour that requires a passport it is your responsibility to arrange your return tour home as you will not be able to continue or complete the tour without this document.

Your emergency contact should be someone who is prepared to assist in case you must leave the tour unexpectedly, most commonly due to unexpected medical issues. They should be aware they are your emergency contact, have a copy of your itinerary, as well as a copy of your passport and protection information. They must be ready, willing and able to travel to be at your bedside – this includes having a valid passport if travel outside Canada is required. As well, they should be ready, willing and able to assist in transporting you home as needed.

This individual will be responsible for contacting your travel insurance protection company in the case where you and/or your travel companion are unable to do so yourselves and will require these details in order to assist you in an emergency. If you would like to add or make a change to who you have listed as your emergency contact please contact Target Tours at least 30 days prior to your tour.

For more information on who should be your emergency contact please read our blog post HERE.

Your tour price does not include travel insurance protection. If you have insurance coverage, we advise you to look into coverage details, if there is a deductible, if you need to pay costs up front, and where to call for help. We highly recommend medical, tour cancellation and tour interruption coverage. If you would like a quote, please call our office at 1-877-214-5367. For more information on the policies we offer, please click HERE.

For international tours, if you do not purchase travel insurance protection from us, you are required to provide proof that you have alternate travel insurance protection.

By joining one of our tours without sufficient emergency medical coverage, you agree not to hold Target Tours responsible for any costs incurred should an emergency medical situation arise. Should you opt not to purchase cancellation/interruption protection and it becomes necessary for you to cancel your tour, the above cancellation terms will be implemented.

Deposits are non-refundable. Once the final payment is made, the tour becomes fully non-refundable.

We recommend purchase of Travel Insurance Protection to protect your investment. For international tours, if you do not purchase travel protection from us, you are required to provide proof that you have alternate travel protection.

Note: Should the payment and/or cancellation terms for your tour vary from what is listed above, you will be notified upon booking and terms will be listed on your invoice.

If one or more persons cancel or change their reservation, the remaining roommate(s) will be charged as per the new number of passengers sharing the room.

Should Target Tours cancel a trip due to a lack of interest, anyone who is currently signed up for the trip can receive a full refund or transfer their funds to another Target Tours trip (subject to any supplier cancellation fees). As a token of appreciation for choosing us, we will also provide you with a $50 travel credit toward your next trip with Target Tours.
We will reach out in advance of final payment to inform all booked clients of the situation. This can occur to any group trip Target Tours offers including Partner Trips.

Each tour may have different inclusions but all tours, as of 2025, include:

  • Transportation as per the itinerary including motorcoach, flights and/or cruise,
  • Accommodations as per the itinerary including cruises and pre- and post-cruise hotels.
  • Meals and attraction as per the itinerary

Exclusions include but are not limited to; Travel Insurance Protection, meals not included in the itinerary, specialty dining experiences, and shore excursions. Exclusions will be stated on the tour page.

If you are from Halifax, Dartmouth, or Truro we provide complimentary transfers from those departure points to Aulac, NB so you can meet the main bus that generally originates on Prince Edward Island. There is no additional charge for this service.

The size of the equipment for the transfer will depend on the number of people who are being picked up at that location and cannot be determined until closer to the date. Transfer vehicles can range in size from passenger vans to full size motor coaches.  You will be provided with a specific time and location for the transfer. At these pick up locations you will be permitted to leave your vehicle for the duration of your tour but this is at your own risk.

A Tour Director is there from the moment you get on the motorcoach or the plane (meeting point in Toronto or Montreal when travelling from multiple Maritime cities), until the moment you are about to head home. They are the connecting link between you and your vacation experience, ensuring that the group gets to where they are going in a timely and safe manner. They answer any questions or concerns you might have during the tour, and keep the group entertained and connected as you travel the world together. Basically, they do all the planning and organizing, because you’re on vacation!

One of the greatest highlights of having a Tour Director on your tour is that if activities are not already planned for you during the vacation (like on our NYC tours where you have lots of free time) you can spend as much or as little time with them as you like. You can ask them for suggestions on activities and they can even help you book them. They are available at all included activities to make sure everything goes smoothly.

All of our Tour Directors are travel professionals and are experienced in both travel and customer service. They are also First Aid and CPR certified.

Our vacations require a minimum number of participants before they can be guaranteed and operate.

We do our best to accommodate special requests. Any accommodations requests (accessible room, adjoining room, cot, etc) must be submitted prior to final payment.

Please inform us, when booking, about any special dietary needs or mobility issues.

We have assigned seating on the motorcoach to allow passengers to take turns at the front and back of the coach. Each day the seating will be rotated, we appreciate your cooperation with this.

If you have any difficulty with motion sickness, please let us know at least one week before departure and we will keep you seated within the first 3-5 rows. Only one other person may sit in your seat rotation with you. We recommend sourcing alternate means of treating/controlling motion sickness (Gravol, acupressure bands, ReliefBand, etc..)

Carry-on luggage is the passenger’s responsibility and should be lightweight and easy to store inside the coach in the compartments over the seat and/or meet the requirements of your flight carrier. You are allowed one standard size suitcase per person on all tours. Maximum weight for luggage on fly/cruise tours is 22 kg/50 lbs.

We will provide you with tips for packing in your Detailed Itinerary however, you can contact our office for a copy of our Ultimate Packing List!

You will be in big (or small) cities with free time to explore and nothing planned. Don’t panic! Our office team can help you book any additional excursions you have interest in during your vacation or you can opt to join your Tour Director for any of their free-time activities (at an additional cost to you). Your Tour Director can also help you find things to do and book them while you’re on vacation.

FAQ Fly Vacations

Yes! As of 2025, all vacations with flights required will be included in the package price. If you want to book your own flights using points or pick your own seats, please contact our office. Our group seats do not allow us to request or pay for specific seats on the plane. If you want to be able to pick your own seats, please contact our office for flight assistance.

When we book your flights for you, we need your passport information including your full name on the passport, the passport number and expiry date. Once a flight has been booked it is non-refundable and changes to the reservation are subject to the airline. We can also apply your Airline Points number to your flights ticket. Please have your points number available for us when you book.

When our group tickets get issued and seating is assigned automatically, we get what we are given (no choosing aisle or window or preferred seating). Most times you are seated beside your travelling partner but there are some occasions when you might be separated. Target Tours will do our best to move people around at the airport gate to ensure travel companions are seated together but it is never guaranteed.

Flight changes, delays or cancellations are the responsibility of the airline. These circumstances are outside of our control and Target Tours is not responsible or liable for changes, delays,  cancellations or any additional expenses incurred by such events. We recommend checking with your travel protection provider about coverage for flights. Our ManuLife Protection policies have a built in Flight Assist program for travelers to register flights and receive compensation for delayed flights.

Unless you are cruising, the locations that you will be staying in will not have North American plugs (Cruiseships always have North American plugs in the cabins). In Europe you will need an electronic converter or adapter for your appliances such as cell phones, tablets, hair dryers, etc. The suggested model you will require will be outlined in your documents you will receive from Target Tours 2 – 3 weeks prior to departure. Please note that certain appliances such as hair dryers will require a certain voltage to work without damaging your converter/adapter or the appliance itself.
Before purchasing a converter/adapter for a certain appliance, please review voltage requirements and research the best adapter needed.

The short answer is: only if you want to. We work with a few different cruise lines and some of them do have specific dress codes but no “formal attire”. Some ships do have optional formal nights call “Evening Chic” where you can be as fancy as you would like. Jeans in the main dining room and specialty restaurants are acceptable as long as they aren’t overly faded, with holes or tears, or worn below the hips. Tank tops for women, flip-flops, baseball caps and visors are not permitted in the main dining room or any of the specialty restaurants.

Dress code information will be provided to you in your pre-tour documents 2-3 weeks out from departure.

This will be outlined 2 – 3 weeks prior to your trip in your detailed itinerary. Depending on the tour it may even be brought to your attention months in advance should you wish to purchase currencies that are not readily available at any bank.

Select ports in the Caribbean may require different currencies but generally, you can still use your credit card for any shoreside purchases.

In Europe, it will vary on the port that you are visiting. Generally, the Euro is commonly accepted at cruise ports but in case that is not accepted credit cards such as Visa or MasterCard are commonly accepted (American Express or Diners Club are not commonly accepted in Europe).

Everything on a cruise is paid using your room key. Your room key is your lifeline during the trip and it is very important that you know where it is at all times for safety. Everything from alcoholic beverages, the shops, the spa, speciality restaurants will require you to swipe your room key to purchase. In select locations such as the duty-free shops and the casino you may be able to use your actual credit card for purchases but that varies by ship and cruise line.

When you go through the embarkation process for your cruise you will be asked how you would like to secure your account. There are a few ways to do this but the simplest and most common way is using your credit card. They will swipe your credit card and then from that point forward your room key will act as a credit card for all purchases on the cruise ship itself.

But you don’t plan on buying anything during your cruise you say?

You still have to secure your account with something, be it credit card, cash, or debit. You cannot board if you do not do this. If you spend nothing, then nothing will be charged to your account at the end of the cruise.

If you wish to secure your account with cash or debit please contact our office for the details on how to do so. While it is possible, both options are a little more challenging and depend greatly on the length and destination of your cruise.

FAQ No Fly Vacations

Yes, you may leave your vehicles at all of our pick up locations during the duration of your trip at your own risk.  Some locations require that you leave your license plate numbers and details and Target Tours will indicate if that is necessary. Some of our international trips or longer tours may have special accommodations for long term parking that Target Tours will indicate to you.

The motorcoaches generally are 56 seats and are deluxe motorcoaches. All coaches of that size have washrooms, reclining seats, overhead lights, air vents, and televisions. We do not own the motor coaches so we are never sure on the exact model that you will be riding on until days prior to the tour. Common amenities that may be on your coach are cup holders, foot rests, pouches in the seats, electricity plugs and Wi-Fi (Canadian portions of tours only).

Yes, there is a washroom on the coach. Generally, we only encourage the use of the onboard washroom in the case of emergencies as we do stop every 2 – 3 hours while on the road so you can use the facilities at the stops.

No, but if you don’t believe us please read from over one hundred testimonials by past clients HERE.

In all seriousness, we play games, movies, trivia, bingo, and provide fun facts and stories during the bus portion. It’s hard to be bored on a group tour!

For tours by motor coach, you are allowed one large suitcase (typically the largest in a set of suitcases) and one carry-on. We do not follow exact dimensions as we are awarded that flexibility of size when travelling by coach. We do ask that you are respectful of other travellers and do not bring unreasonably large pieces of luggage, instruments, or make large purchases while travelling. Target Tours Tour Directors must be consulted before purchasing anything large during a motor coach tour.

You are also allowed to bring one carry-on in the cabin of the coach. Small roller suitcases are not advised as they will not fit in the overhead compartment above the seats due to their wheels. In that circumstance, they must be kept in front of you at your seat which can be very uncomfortable.

Our No-Fly Vacations only travel within Canada or USA so you will only need CAD or USD currency. This will be outlined 2 – 3 weeks prior to your tour in your detailed itinerary.

If you are cruising in the US or in the Caribbean, the US Dollar is typically all you will need. Select ports in the Caribbean may require different currencies but generally, you can still use your credit card for any shoreside purchases.

Target Tours is unable to provide medical advice; however, there is a medical station on board equipped with fully licensed nurses and doctors should you become ill. The front desk on the cruise ship also often provides motion sickness pills at no cost should you request them.

If you mention that seasickness is a concern when you book we will do our best to arrange for a midship cabin where you will feel the least amount of movement. The availability of these cabins will be dependent on when you book as these cabins are often the first to sell out. If motion sickness/seasickness is a concern, please book early so we can accommodate you as much as possible.

There are a few options here. If you want to book a shore excursion that we are advertising during our tour you only have to contact Target Tours to arrange that.

If you want to book a shore excursion through the cruise ship that you want to do independent from the group you can contact us before you leave to book it or do it during your cruise. If you want to ensure that your seats are saved on the excursion (as some excursions do sell out) we encourage you to contact us in advance to book it.

All other excursions by separate providers that are not advertised through Target Tours cannot be booked through Target Tours. We only sell tours with companies we are familiar with or through the cruise lines. This is for security purposes and to ensure an enjoyable experience.

Policies

All reservations require a booking deposit to secure the seat. We accept cash, money order, e-Transfer, Visa, Mastercard or American Express. We do not accept personal cheques. Money orders can be made out to Target Tours. E-transfers can be sent to [email protected] which is set to auto deposit. If your bank requires a security question, please contact us directly.

Freestyle Payments: After you pay your deposit we’re happy to offer payment options to make it easier to look after the remaining balance of your tour. We can arrange monthly payments or you can call in and pay any amount at any time between deposit and final payment. Our only rule is that all funds must be collected before final payment. If you would like to set up monthly payments please indicate upon booking so we can share further details.

Deposits are non-refundable. Once the final payment is made, the tour becomes fully non-refundable.

We recommend purchase of Travel Protection to protect your investment. Please see Protection details below.

At Target Tours, we want to ensure your travel journey remains pleasurable and simplified. To maintain this expectation, you should be in good health. If you have any conditions or limitations, please advise Target Tours when making your reservation. Travelers who require assistance must be accompanied by an able care companion to provide this service and required assistance. This will not become the responsibility of Target Tours or its Tour Directors and third-party suppliers. Target Tours reserves the right to decline any person as a member of a departure, at any time either before or during the tour, should such person’s presence be considered detrimental to the interest, comfort, enjoyment and welfare of the other tour members. Persons required to leave the tour will not receive a refund of any unused services, including any costs occurred or change fees, due to being asked to leave the tour.

Our team will communicate any documentation you need to have when travelling as well as provide you with travel documents like your Detailed Itinerary and pre-tour documents roughly 2-3 weeks prior to departure.

Children are a welcome addition to our tours. Children must be toilet trained and mature enough to sit for long periods of time. For these reasons, we do not recommend that children under 6 years of age travel by motorcoach.

Minors under the age of 19 traveling must be accompanied by an adult in the same room. Minors under the age of 16 and traveling with only one parent must have a signed and notarized travel waiver/consent to travel form by the other parent in order to leave the country.

Some motorcoaches now are outfitted with seat belts. When seat belts are provided on a motorcoach we encourage all participants to wear them for their safety. When a motorcoach has seat belts we require that anyone under the age of 16 wear it while the coach is in motion.

We do our best to accommodate special requests. Any accommodations requests (accessible room, adjoining room, cot, etc) must be submitted prior to final payment. Please inform us, when booking, about any special dietary needs.

  • No consuming of alcoholic beverages or smoking will be permitted on the motorcoach. The bus stops every 2 – 3 hours during travel days which allows for opportunities to smoke. Please respect the areas that you may be visiting during the tour and their specific smoking policies. While cannabis is legal in Canada it is illegal to transport cannabis across the Canadian border. This includes medical cannabis. Passengers are not permitted to travel with marijuana/cannabis across any borders while travelling with Target Tours. Failure to follow this policy will result in the passenger being responsible for their own return home should they be denied entry into the country they are trying to enter, at their own cost, and they will not be permitted to continue with a tour. Full cancellation charges of the tour will apply. The passenger will also be subject to the legal ramifications of attempting to bring an illegal substance into the country in which they are trying to enter.
