Here are only a few of our PEI tours:
Our historic capital city is the center of not only government and business for the Island, but also a rich venue for our cultural activity.
Drive through Victoria Park and view the three rivers that flow into Charlottetown Harbour and historic homes such as Beaconsfield and Fanningbank. Drive through the city and see many historic churches, buildings, the Marina and Peake’s Wharf. Our Tour Guide will keep you entertained during the ride with stories of our past and anecdotes about our city.
To make your city tour memorable, we suggest a visit to Province House (Currently closed for renovations for the next 3 – 5 years beginning in 2014), the site of the famous Charlottetown Conference where the Fathers of Confederation met in 1864 to lay out the plans for the future country of Canada. If history is not your cup of tea, then why not stop at Beaconsfield, the home of the Heritage and Museum Foundation, for a relaxing cup of hot tea served in the spacious dining room. This tour can be offered as a Step On Guided Tour or Walking Tour.
North Shore Area Tour – 6-7 hours
This very popular area of Prince Edward Island provides you with a wonderful cross-section of scenic farmlands, quaint coastal fishing villages, red sandstone cliffs and pink sandy beaches.
Depending on your time and schedule, you can choose from visits to Green Gables House, The Anne of Green Gables Museum, Avonlea Village, Cows Ice Cream, The P.E.I. Preserve Co., or “The Bluffs” and more. There are several gift shops where local crafts or Island souvenirs may be purchased.
A lunch break will be arranged at a local restaurant or we can arrange for your group to have an old-fashioned picnic at Cavendish Beach National Park. You may also wish to cap the day off with a traditional lobster dinner or a Ceilidh with local musicians and storytellers. There is so much to do on our North Shore!
We know you will love this beloved land of Lucy Maud Montgomery, now known in the tourism industry as “Anne’s Land”.
Traditions have not disappeared in the Acadian French region of Prince Edward Island as they are bred in the crafts, the music, the food and the hearts of the people in this wonderful cultural area. Renowned for their down home hospitality, the Acadian region, located on the western side of the Island, is one of our best-kept secrets!
You may visit the Acadian Museum, the Bottle House, Village Musical Acadien, and a typical fishing village or one of the fine historic churches. Learn about the culture as you observe and speak with the friendly folk who make their living here. To really experience the Acadian lifestyle, stay for supper and enjoy a traditional Acadian meal.
It would be rare if you could visit this area and not have a chance to tap your toes to the traditional fiddle music or enjoy some live step dancing!
Heading east from Charlottetown, the sights and sounds of the modern day city life will soon be forgotten as you step back in time at Orwell Corner, a recreated pioneer village depicting our early Island lifestyle.
After visiting this historic village, you can follow the country roads that lead to many points of interest such as Point Prim Lighthouse, St. John’s Historic Presbyterian Church in Belfast, Rossignol’s Winery in Little Sands or just explore the fishing villages, farms, and beaches that dot this rural countryside.
A relaxing cruise down the Montague River is a perfect way to unwind and learn all about the ‘Island Blue’ cultured mussels that are harvested in this water system. You may even sample them on board the cruising vessel.
No matter what you do, the scenery is enjoyable in this area known to us as ‘The Hills & Harbours’ region of Prince Edward Island.
Summerside City Tour – 1 hour
Summerside is well worth a visit because of its rich heritage and cultural achievements. The stately homes that line the streets are reminders of the shipbuilding industry of the 1800’s, known as the ‘Golden Age of Sail,’ and the lucrative fox farming industry that flourished in the early 1900’s.
The waterfront is the center of activity during the summer months with The Eptek Center and The Jubilee Theater offering arts and culture under one roof and Spinnakers’s Landing just a short stroll away.
Located nearby is The College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts, the only year-round institution of its kind in North America. See the largest distribution port for potatoes in North America and view all the pleasure crafts that make the harbour their home.
Come stay in one of the cities beautiful hotels and tour Summerside before moving to your next destination.
Please note that tours to Summerside are based on the availability of local guide. Please request early for this tour.
